About
TfNSW Non-Standard Runs is a live tracking tool for NSW rail enthusiasts. It monitors the live NSW rail vehicle feed and surfaces only the interesting stuff — heritage trains, freight workings, empty runs, regional services, and special operations — filtering out the thousands of normal scheduled passenger services.
How to Use
Use the filter buttons to narrow by category — Heritage, Intercity, Workings, Regional, or Freight. All shows everything non-standard at once.

Tap or click any run in the list or on the map to see full details including consist, operator, and position.

The search box filters by run number or consist model where known — freight and infrastructure workings may show limited consist detail. The map updates every 25 seconds.

  • Some runs show the wrong service type — a few passenger workings are labelled "Empty Train"
  • Freight positions can occasionally jump between an old and current location
  • Some runs show limited detail (no consist or route) even where a timetable is available
  • Times after midnight display as 24:06, 25:12 rather than 00:06, 01:12
  • Timetable buttons briefly disappear for a couple of minutes after an update
